After a long overnight train ride from Varanasi to Agra, we were given the option to visit Agra Fort. We were advised that our visit to the Taj Mahal was scheduled for that day yet a stop at Agra Fort could fatigue us too much and we would not enjoy our afternoon.
Being the type of travellers who don't like leaving stones unturned, we decided to head to Agra Fort. I'm so glad we did. It is a stunning old fort where Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his third wife Mumtaz Mahal graced lush grounds and opulent rooms before they were eventually laid to rest at the Taj.
Agra Fort truly brings Taj Mahal's legacy into perspective. Whilst wandering the vast grounds of Agra Fort, we came face to face with its blend of Persian and Indian architecture, elegant masonry and intricate Islamic patterns.
My Photofig project theme this week was to "keep it simple"; to focus on the subject while rejecting any busy or unnecessary surrounds. I decided to capture the essence of this theme through one of a few photos I took at Agra Fort.
The photo also reminds me to keep a simple perspective in life and in my travels. A simple outlook attracts my attention to the finer details that bring me much joy as a traveller.
I hope my photo brings you the simple joy that it brings me.
