One of the earliest blog posts I wrote here was The Beachside Playground of St Kilda. I wrote it after one of many wonderful weekenders in St Kilda and this “beachside playground” holds a special place within me. There have been the countless gigs I’ve attended in St Kilda, not to mention the long lunches I’ve enjoyed on Acland Street and summertime dips in Port Phillip Bay.
While in St Kilda, I always love wandering The Esplanade to admire the art deco homes lining it. When this week’s Photofig Project theme emerged, it gave me a chance to revisit one of these glorious homes. As you can see, the corner of the front wall leads your eyes to the focal point of my photo – the house named Te Aroha. I’ve since discovered that Te Aroha, from Maori, translates to “the mountain of love” or “the loved one”.
Sit back and admire this mountain for yourself!
