A Day in the Life: Everyday Vegan Items in my Daily Travels

Travelling the vegan road means I stick to reliable items that will not let me down. I may not always be travelling far, but I know these items will keep me travelling well.

Food throughout the day

As a vegan coeliac, I stick to a strict eating regime. I do not skip meals because my body needs to remain healthy and fuelled each day.

For breakfast, I always make a green smoothie. I blend up one banana, one date, two heaped teaspoons of linseeds, one heaped teaspoon of chia seeds, a generous scoop of vegan gluten-free protein powder, a handful of spinach and a generous cup of soy or almond milk. I’ve tried quite a few protein powders over the years, so check out my earlier post for reliable brands.

For morning tea, I have a small soy latte with some snacks. I like to make up a small container of fresh blueberries, raspberries and sliced strawberries then top it off with a handful each of walnuts and pumpkin seeds.

For lunch, I’ll eat something hearty like a bowl of dahl or a pumpkin chickpea stew I make at home, along with an orange or mandarin.

During the day, I drink lots of water and eat an apple for a late snack. If I get hungry I’ll tap into a vegan gluten-free peanut butter bar or similar.

By dinner, I’m eating veggie burgers and steamed veggies like broccoli, corn, carrots and homemade potato chips.

Back to basics in the bathroom

I tend to keep my bathroom regime simple. It saves me time and energy each morning before I head to work. In thew shower I like to use either a bar of soap or body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. All vegan and cruelty-free, of course.

I do not wear a lot of make-up because I do not like wearing it. I keep it simple – a light foundation underneath and a little mascara for my lashes plus some lip balm.

What about under the arms? A reliable vegan roll-on or apply-on always works for me.

When it is that time of the month, I go for the most planet-friendly items I can find. Same goes for toilet paper and tissues.

Cleaning and housework

When I must clean the house or do the dishes, only the most reliable items and cruelty-free items will do. Sprays and cleaners work well alongside natural remedies using eucalyptus oil, bicarb soda and vinegar.
