Fuel up at these Vegan Food Spots before Laneway Festival

Whenever I go to a music festival, I always wonder if there is going to be enough vegan food with gluten-free options for me. If you are planning to go to St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Melbourne next month, then you might want to fuel up first before you get there.

The Melbourne leg of Laneway Festival is in Flemington. So, here are my tips on where to go before the big event.

ARGI Café

You will find wholesome, nourishing food here at ARGI. There are short order items from waffles to French toast, curries and loaded rolls and iced lattes and great coffee to start your day. There are also freshly baked muffins and croissants in case you want to pack your bag with snacks for the festival. Be sure to get here early because it is a cosy place, and you do not want to miss a table.

ARGI Café 512 Macaulay Road Kensington Victoria 3031 Australia. Open 8am to 2pm weekdays and 8am to 3pm weekends.

Foraged

This is a forward-thinking location with an emphasis on vegan, gluten-free and sustainable principles. They are big on low waste and reusing items for their digs such as the furniture. They operate out of Eka Wholefoods one weekend a month so check their socials in case they are open on festival weekend! Gorgeous food with loads of flavour. Perfect for fuelling up on.

Foraged 129 Buckley Street Seddon Victoria 3011 Australia. Check their socials for their upcoming dates.

Huong Viet

Vietnamese food is a popular feature on this side of the city, and you can get many of your favourites in their vegan form here. Another spot for filling and fulfilling soups, salads, or a single meal with a side of rice for something a little bigger. The vegan Vietnamese pancake is a hit among diners, too.

Huong Viet 36a Leeds Street Footscray Victoria 3011 Australia. Open 10am to 9pm seven days a week.

Mister Nice Guy’s Bake Shop

This is a legendary vegan location in Melbourne that is well-known for its all-vegan sweet and savoury baked treats. But did you know they have a deli, too? You can get vegan hot subs and deli-style sandwiches. You will also find chilli dogs, bagels and baguettes loaded with your favourite vegan fillings. Do not forget to grab a coffee and a vegan cupcake to complete the meal.

Mister Nice Guy’s Bake Shop 151 Union Road Ascot Vale 3032 Australia. Open 9am to 3pm weekdays and 8am to 2pm weekends. The deli is available 10am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1.30pm weekends.

Olivia Spring Café

Fresh Vietnamese vegan food with the best ingredients Melbourne has to offer. Get all your favourite traditional Vietnamese soups and salads (veganised, of course) plus good coffee, refreshing smoothies and freshly squeezed juices. Get something light, or something more substantial to fuel you before the big event.

Olivia Spring Café 637 Mt Alexander Road Moonee Ponds Victoria 3039 Australia. Open 9am to 3.30pm six days a week, closed Sundays.
